Core Values
MKP History
MKP’s roots go back to 1984–1985, when three men from different backgrounds (a therapist, a Marine, and a professor) set out to create an intensive weekend for men. They envisioned a space where men could:
- Heal emotional wounds.
- Overcome internal obstacles.
- Discover healthy power and purpose.
- Explore connection among head, heart, and soul in the context of a larger brotherhood.
NWTA
The first “Wild Man Weekend” (later renamed the New Warrior Training Adventure) took place in January 1985 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It drew on multiple influences: myth and ritual, therapeutic modalities (like Gestalt), and leadership work from the 1970s–80s human potential movement.
